About

India has a billion stories.
We tell them from here.

For decades, the biggest stories about India were filed from somewhere else — datelined elsewhere, edited elsewhere, explained to us as if we were visitors in our own country. This Is Bharat was founded on a simple correction: the view from here is the story. We report India in English that sounds like us, for readers who don't need the monsoon explained.

We cover 7 desks — politics, economy, technology, culture, cinema, sport, science — with a single standard across all of them: original reporting, named sources, and the humility to say what we don't know yet.

How we work

No aggregation. If we didn't report it, verify it, or add to it, we don't publish it. No engagement bait. Headlines tell you what the story says.No Delhi-only lens. Our desks file from Bengaluru, Mumbai, Guwahati, Kochi, and everywhere the story actually lives. Corrections in daylight. When we get something wrong, the fix is appended to the story and logged publicly.

We'd rather be second and right than first and loud.

The Bharat Briefing

Our daily newsletter distills each morning into five stories and five minutes. It is free, it is written by humans, and it is the best way to read us.
